I’m an investigative reporter with the Winnipeg Free Press. Over my nearly decade-long career, I’ve reported on matters of corporate and government accountability, with a focus on policing, jails and health care.

In addition to the Free Press, I’ve written features for a variety of outlets, including the Globe and Mail, TVO.org, Xtra Magazine and The Atlantic. I’ve also reported for Investigative Post, a non-profit newsroom based in Buffalo, NY, and The Trace, a non-profit newsroom covering gun violence. I have a Master’s degree from the Columbia Journalism School, where I was a fellow at the Toni Stabile Center for Investigative Journalism.

I was born in Toronto, raised in the GTA, and have since lived in New York City, Buffalo, Kingston and Ottawa. My father’s family hails from a small village called Bhaltos, which is located about as far west as you can go on the Isle of Lewis before dropping into the Atlantic Ocean. My mum’s family, meanwhile, immigrated to Canada from a mix of places in England and Northern Ireland.
